New Antenna on the way.

After much testing and failed attempts to get my trusty J Pole to perform well on 2 Meters I found sadly it was out performed by my Watson mobile 2m Antenna in the loft.
So the time came to purchase an antenna for the purpose allowing me to play with my home-made antenna's without worrying about being without radio in the meantime.

The antenna I wanted was the W-2000 Watson 6m/2m/70cm Base Station Vertical. Sadly though this antenna is too long to fit in my loft space and so I settled for the W-50 Watson 2m/70cm Base Station Vertical.
At just under 2m height this will snugly fit in my loft space. It has a gain of 4.5dB on 2 meters and 7.2dB on 70cm with a maximum power rating of 200W its configuration is a 6/8, 3x5/8 and its actual length is 1.8m with a weight of 1.2kg.
Obviously to get the higher gain would require a longer length and as im unable to have an outdoor antenna this will have to be my constraint for now.

The other reason for choosing this antenna was price. As a beginner to the activity and on a tight budget £55 including delivery seemed a reasonable price for my first bought antenna.

It was ordered from Waters & Stanton on Wednesday night so hopefully assuming it gets next day delivery I may be lucky enough for it to arrive today and be able to install it over the weekend.

Here's hoping :-)

++++News just in++++

The YL has called to inform me the antenna has arrived. I will hope to assemble and install it this evening.
(Thanks W&S prompt del as always)
